I am so glad we have a long weekend! I have literally nothing planned and now that my August no-buy is over, I have a couple bottles of wine and time for several long walks. I am kind of sad that is already way too cold to go to the beach up here but it is what is. Also – even though my no buy is over, it’s not really. The Hill House University nap dress drop is this coming Thursday and have my purchases planned out and budgeted for already.
Frida Kahlo has been popping up in my feeds lately, between last Sunday’s DuoLingo Spanish podcast and this Vogue piece about a new photo book coming out soon.
I fill a cart at Skims and Good American every couple months, but then I stop, because they’re Kardashian brands, apparently I’m not the only person who feels this way.
I love everything on Carly’s list of Etsy faves.
A really interesting piece on the fall of girlboss culture and a commentary on how problematic female corporate leaders do things that are, in the grand scheme, much less bad than the actions of some male bosses who say undermine the entire fabric of our societies, start wars, or exploit entire continents of people.
I love reading/watching/hearing about different people’s routines, I really like how balanced but focused this Grand Prix equestrienne’s routine is.
The Honey Deuce, the official cocktail of the US Open sounds so good. Also, isn’t it absolutely hilarious how non-athletes have made drinking while watching elite athletes do their thing a part of our culture?
It is definitely officially fall in Northern Ontario, it hasn’t been over 22 degrees all week. I love this list of suggestions for adapting your routine to keep your mood up as the seasons change.
I’ve never been one to have a favourite director, but I think if I had to pick it would be Pedro Almodovar. I think Volver and Todo Sobre Mi Madre are my favourites, however Le Charme Discret de la Bourgeoisie is so completely absurd that I can never forget it.
This is hilarious, I grew up on a dairy farm so cow’s milk has always been a staple of my diet (we never even bought milk until we moved to Canada, we just took it straight from the tank). So the line “cow’s milk is back” is absolutely hilarious!
I have been googling and searching and asking for recommendations in my new town for weeks now for where to get my eyebrows done, and the answers have been Winnipeg (6 hours) or Thunder Bay (4 hours). So I’ve been reading tutorials like this one to try and get brave enough to attack them myself.
I am extremely pleasantly surprised by Kristen Stewart as Lady Di in the Spencer trailer. Also, the idea that this movie is based around 3 days of her life is fascinating.
So based off the title, I expected this interview with Kyle Cooke, Amanda Batula, and Carl Radke, the founders of Loverboy beverages and long-time stars of Bravo’s Summer House, to be completely different, but I actually have a lot of respect for people who are willing to do reality TV and make other businesses out of it. Those people have something different in themselves to not crash and burn.
It’s the time of year again when it’s cold in the morning and you are melting in your cute fall outfit by 2pm. I love these transitional outfits Carly has put together.
I find what people collect fascinating.
So lol, we are no longer going back to the office on September 7th, but it’s now looming at some soon unknown date, so I have been looking for office outfit inspiration everywhere.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the YA genre after reading and watching The Mortal Instruments books and TV and movie adaptations this week. Apparently I’m not alone and most millenials are watching YA romances.
I try and keep this list free from the stress of the real world, but we have an election coming up in Canada and we can’t forget that we have very similar trends (from style to politics) just a few years later than the USA. We have to pay attention, in June there was a vote in the House of Commons to restrict abortion access, and a vote on banning conversion therapy (aka literal torture of LGBTQ+ people) and way more MPs voted against it then it should have.
I hope you have a great long weekend! If it’s still warm where you are, go to the beach for me?
